Veteran actress Salma Zafar has shared her bold decision to allow her husband to marry a second wife rather than tolerate his affairs, a choice she says brought peace and harmony to her life.
Speaking on Fuchsia Magazine, Zafar revealed, “I chose to let my husband marry again rather than tolerate his affairs… and I am happy with my decision.” Married at just 18 in an arranged match by her aunt, Zafar recalled that her husband’s kind personality made their relationship smooth. “My husband was always well-liked, and I never faced any issues with him,” she said.
However, after learning about his affairs from multiple sources, she grew concerned and monitored him for three months. Devastated but determined, Zafar consulted her father-in-law. “I was devastated at first, but after talking to my father-in-law, I was able to move on and allow my husband to marry again,” she explained.
Zafar emphasized her decision was about maintaining family harmony. “I can’t tolerate affairs, but if you feel you can manage a second marriage, then go ahead,” she stated. She even embraced her husband’s new child, saying, “I was overjoyed and I consider him my own child.”
Now at peace, Zafar believes her unconventional choice proved right for her family. “It was difficult at first, but now, things are easier, and I feel at peace,” she concluded.
Zafar, known for dramas like Paadash and Mirat-ul-Uroos, was married to Tariq Mehmood for 22 years before their divorce.
