Gurmeet Choudhary became a fan favourite after he appeared in Netflix’ Yeh Kaali Kaali Ankhein season 2. He entered the show as Purva’s friend, Guru. Now, in a new interview, the actor shared he gave up sugar, rice, and roti for his role for a year and a half. In the same interview, he also shared a couple of his other practices like touching his wife Debina Bonnerjee’s feet as well as their daughters.
Speaking to Bharti Singh and Harsh Limbachiya on their YouTube channel, Bharti TV, Gurmeet Choudhary said, “It is quiet tough. It has been 1.5 since I have eaten sugar, roti, rice, or even bread. It is not easy at all. You have to mentally prepare yourself for each role that you play.”
Gurmeet shared how this was a big challenge for him. “I am a big foodie, and I had to give up on food,” said the actor. He added, “I just had one kind of food for a year and half, only boiled stuff. It has no taste, but eventually I started to find it tasty. Now, my appetite has become so that if I will eat something unhealthy, it won’t suit me at all. I can eat ghee, but if it will be too much then my body rejects it.” He also spoke about his strict regimen, revealing he is up at 4 am and goes to bed around 9:30 pm.
In the same interview, the actor also spoke about how his life changed after he met his wife. The couple starred together in the mythological drama Ramayan on NDTV Imagine. They fell on the sets of the show, and later tied the knot.

Talking about his wife, the actor said, “After having Debina in my life and later my daughters… I understood no amount of appreciation or respect will justify their importance. People often argue ‘Why should we touch our wife’s feet?’ Vikrant Massey was massively trolled when he shared photos from their Karwa Chauth celebrations, where he was seen touching his wife’s feet. I too touch my wife’s feet. Women deserve it.”
He explained, “The kind of things women can do, we guys can never even imagine. There is no comparison. I saw her delivering our daughters. Then she takes care of the entire house. Then she takes care of her profession. Women can multitask. We men cannot. My wife is like my God. I can worship her all my life. She supported me when I was a nobody. She is my everything. Every morning I touch both my daughters’ feet.”
