FDE cancels Saturday holiday in Islamabad schools
The Federal Directorate of Education (FDE) has announced a major policy change for federal government schools and colleges by cancelling Saturday as a weekly holiday.
Starting November 30, 2024, Saturdays will now be regular working days for both students and staff.
This decision aims to address the academic losses caused by prolonged school closures in recent months. According to an official notification, the policy will remain in effect until February 1, 2025, adding nearly two months of extra classroom time to help students catch up.
Students and parents will need to adjust to the six-day school week, as authorities believe this change is essential for preparing students for upcoming exams and completing the syllabus.
While some students might be disappointed at losing their weekend break, teachers and education officials see this as an opportunity to focus more on academics and recover lost time effectively.
The FDE has urged all stakeholders to cooperate with the new schedule, emphasizing the importance of this effort in ensuring students’ academic progress. Starting tomorrow, schools and colleges across the federal capital will implement this updated routine.
