Differences with Anbumani ironed out, but Mukunthan is party’s youth wing leader: Ramadoss

PMK founder S. Ramadoss on Thursday said that differences with his son and party president Anbumani Ramadoss had been ironed out. However, he was firm in his stand over the appointment of his grandson, Mukunthan, as the party’s youth wing leader despite Dr. Anbumani’s objection.

The order appointing Mr. Mukunthan to the post was already handed over to him, Dr. Ramadoss added.

Dr. Ramadoss was responding to questions from journalists at Thailapuram on the verbal spar between him and Dr. Anbumani at the PMK’s special general council meeting recently. Several issues crop up usually at general council meetings and, generally, no party would allow entry to mediapersons to such events.

He further said that the functioning of the Tamil Nadu police was “paralaysed”, and they were not under the control of Chief Minister M.K. Stalin. Several cases, including the Vengaivayal issue, death of Congress Tirunelveli East district president, and the triple murder of a family in Tiruppur, should have been cracked by the police. However, they have been hanging in the balance, he pointed out.

Mr. Stalin had been meeting the police force once in six months. Normally, he should hold meetings with police officers every fortnight, Dr. Ramadoss said, adding that the police must be given full freedom and a free hand to discharge their duties.

He also demanded that the government shut down the illegal liquor outlets functioning near Tasmac shops in the State.
