A 31-year-old manager of a multinational bank died after being hit by a bus of a travel agency in Borivali, police said Friday.
According to police, the incident took place at around 6.30pm on Thursday when the victim, identified as Sairaj Chavan, was returning home from work.
Chavan works as a sales manager in the bank in Borivali.
“He usually returns home from work along with his wife who works with a different back. On Thursday evening, when he was walking back home alone, a bus belonging to a travel agency suddenly rammed him while he was crossing the SV Road,” an officer said.
The driver of the bus, in his statement to police, said that he lost control over the vehicle due to which he ended up running over him.
The police said that his family members were informed by his friends and other locals who rushed Chavan to the hospital.
Chavan was declared brought dead after which the local police recorded his father’s statement and registered a case of rash and negligent driving against the driver, identified as Mohamed Kalam Lallan Khan.
Senior police inspector Maloji Shinde said, “We have not arrested him because as per the provisions of the law, we have served him a notice and allowed him to go.”
