The registration process for the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government’s ambitious scheme of providing financial assistance to women is set to begin soon, party’s national convenor Arvind Kejriwal announced on Friday.
The Delhi government has decided to provide Rs 1,000 per month as financial assistance for women in the national capital.
The announcement came as the former Delhi Chief Minister held a padyatra (foot march) in Buradi as part of his campaign for next year’s Assembly elections. Arvind Kejriwal is on a padyatra that is to cover all 70 Assembly constituencies of poll-bound Delhi.
Addressing his supporters, Kejriwal reiterated the AAP government’s promise of financial assistance to women and announced that the registration process for the same will commence soon. He also emphasised his administration’s success in providing 24×7 free electricity.
The AAP chief said that almost everybody in Delhi has received a zero electricity bill at least once in their lives, pointing out that the BJP governs 20 states, yet not one of them offers zero electricity bills. He criticised the BJP for not prioritising the needs of the common people.
Assuring the people of his complete support for the bus marshals and their rights, Arvind Kejriwal said, “These bus marshals are my brothers, my party and I are the ones fighting for you; no one else will fight for you”.
He also highlighted the contrast in job security between Delhi and Gujarat, saying, “In Gujarat, even the police officers are on temporary contracts. The BJP never makes anything permanent”.
Kejriwal also outlined a new initiative aimed at providing financial support to the women marshals of Delhi. He announced, “I will ensure you get your jobs back, those who were removed.”
The 70-member Delhi Legislative Assembly is slated to go to polls early next year, with official dates for elections yet to be announced by the Election Commission.
