Rangayana has geared up to organise the Bahuroopi National Theatre Festival-2025 here from January 14.

The six-day event will attract well-known theatre productions from various parts of the country.

In connection with the theatre festival, the district administration had convened a preliminary meeting here on Friday. Additional Deputy Commissioner Shivaraj, Rangayana director Satish Tiptur and officials from the Department of Kannada and Culture were present.

Mr. Shivaraj asked officials to extend support to Rangayana in the successful organisation of the festival.

He said the Mysuru City Corporation must take steps to keep the Rangayana surroundings clean and ensure water supply during the festival. Publicity for Bahuroopi could be done on the digital screens put up at various places in the city for promotion of government schemes and programmes.

He asked the engineers of the Chamundeshwari Electricity Supply Corporation to ensure that there was no disruption in power supply during the theatre festival.

Mr. Tiptur said Rangayana had completed 35 years, and a total of 24 plays in different languages would be staged during the festival.

One of the highlights of the theatre festival this year would be the children’s theatre festival where plays focussed on them would be staged at a particular venue.

Bahuroopi is among Mysuru’s premier annual theatre shows that has been happening for the last 24 years. It began in 2001.

Besides Kannada, plays of various languages are brought to the festival that draws theatre enthusiasts from the city and nearby places.

Eminent theatre personalities from the country are invited to deliver talks and participate in interactions. The plays will be staged at Bhoomigeetha, Vanaranga, Kalamandira and Kiru Rangamandira. Besides plays, folk troupes will perform at the festival at Kindarajogi Vedike.

Like every year, this year too a seminar will be held. At Sriranga, a film festival has been planned; besides, a book fair, arts and crafts mela, and painting expo would be held on the Rangayana premises.
