Apex Committee Meeting of Special Investment Facilitation Council
The 11th Apex Committee Meeting of the Special Investment Facilitation Council (SIFC) was held on January 2, 2025, to review various initiatives under the SIFC forum.
Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif chaired the session, which was attended by the Chief of Army Staff, Federal Cabinet members, Provincial Chief Ministers, the Prime Minister of Azad Jammu and Kashmir, the Chief Minister of Gilgit-Baltistan, and other senior officials.
The Secretary of the Apex Committee presented a comprehensive briefing on SIFC’s strategic focus and its contributions to the National Economic Transformation Plan 2024-2029, titled ‘Uraan Pakistan.’
The Committee expressed satisfaction with the country’s improving macroeconomic conditions, highlighting the significance of collective efforts for sustained economic growth and ensuring its benefits reach the public.
Key decisions included the approval of an Action Plan for optimizing Special Economic Zones (SEZs) to rejuvenate Pakistan’s industrial landscape.
The Committee also reviewed the National Minerals Harmonization Framework proposal, gaining consensus from stakeholders.
Additionally, updates on initiatives for human resource development (HRD), including skill enhancement and global-standard accreditation, were shared. Provincial Chief Ministers outlined their respective efforts to stimulate economic growth in their regions.
The Chief of Army Staff reaffirmed the Pakistan Army’s commitment to supporting government initiatives for economic stability and maintaining peace and security.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif lauded the efforts of SIFC, ministries, and associated stakeholders for their contributions to laying a solid foundation for activities planned in 2025.
He stressed the need for unified efforts across all tiers of governance for the nation’s greater good.
